Sport Concussion Treatment
Concussion Resolution, the parent company of Jenna Howe and Associates, has 2 locations to serve British Columbians. Located in Victoria BC and Burnaby, BC , both Brynn and Jenna provide Sport Concussion Treatment using the Concussion Recovery Protocol (CRP) ™. We use manual assessments and treatments that address the various symptoms found in each concussion subtype.
We now offer SWAY concussion baseline assessments that are easy to administer and widely used across the US for highschool and college athletes. As a SWAY clinic provider we can create the baseline and use the ongoing assessments to monitor treatment and create a report for your physician, nurse practitioner and/or your athletic therapist to determine return to play and return to work.
Are you suffering from daily headaches?
Feeling foggy and not able to concentrate?
Can't run without pain and dizziness?
The biggest struggle when you have an invisible injury is that the people around you don’t understand what you are going through. The drive to power through and pretend that everything is okay can actually set you back and increase your length of recovery. Concussion Resolution is here to help.
The Concussion Recovery Protocol (CRP) has been used for almost 30 years (from its inception in 1996 starting with Craig Mattimoe) to get athletes back to feeling normal, back to school, work and sport. This protocol is effective at reducing headaches, brain fog, difficulty reading, correcting dysfunctional movement patterns and addressing many other symptoms related to post-concussion syndrome.
How many sessions of Sport Concussion Treatment will I need?
Most young otherwise healthy athletes will often see results in 1-2 sessions. However, while this is a typical response, each person will have their unique symptomatology and healing time. Considerations for a longer recovery tend to be: gender - females tend to have a longer recovery time, dizziness as a first or primary symptom, stress - known to increase the length of recovery, pre existing conditions and adherence to the recommendations set by your practitioner. Your practitioner will discuss with you, your ideal treatment plan after your initial assessment and treatment.
Even when all symptoms are cleared, it is strongly advised to adhere to Return to Play guidelines and get official clearance from your physician prior to game play.
How soon can I get treatment?
Sports concussions have the greatest response when the treatment is implemented 72hrs - 2 weeks post injury. However, I have witnessed amazing results by administering treatment within minutes of injury to a few months later. Waiting 72 hrs post injury generally allows time for medical diagnosis when warranted and a full expression of symptoms. The Concussion Recovery Protocol ™ is gentle in application and does not have any known contraindications, therefore it can and often has been implemented within a few hours post injury.
My son/daughter is under the age of 18 yrs; can they still come in for a treatment?
Absolutely! The CRP is safe and gentle for all ages and Brynn and I have worked with athletes as young as 11 years old. For those under 16 yrs, the average recovery rate can be a little longer than for those who are a bit older. What we do ask is that if your child is under the age of 18yrs that you or their appointed guardian is required to be present for their treatment. If they are billeted with another family and will be getting themselves to and from the clinic, please email me directly ahead of time to arrange for consent for treatment.
