Empowering & Educating Parents
Empowering parents to speak up for their children and their long term well being.
Educating parents on the long term health effects of concussions/head injuries
Giving parents the power to stand up to the old and dangerous "just shake it off" mentality.
If you think your child has the symptoms of concussion please SPEAK UP!
Talk to your coach, nurse practitioner, naturopath, neuromuscular therapist or family physician. It is better to be safe than sorry! Underreporting concussions is still very serious in the sport world, and it is NOT limited to professional sports.
In a 2004 survey of athletes, they reported:
- 66% of athletes stated the reason for not reporting symptoms was due to the notion that they weren't serious enough to need medical attention.
- 36% didn't even know they had a concussion.
- 41% were afraid of being kept out of play.
- 22% felt that they would be letting down their team.
Many players gave more than one reason for not reporting their symptoms. None of the reasons warrant a lifetime of symptoms and disease.

Sports Medicine Australia has developed 3 handy pocket guides for recognizing and dealing with concussions.
